Thomas à Kempis - The Founders of the New Devotion, 1905
About
Being the Lives of Gerard Groote, Florentius Radewin and their Followers. From the Preface: ‘’The Brotherhood of the Common Life to which à Kempis belonged owed its foundation to Groote and his pupil Florentius, and since that Brotherhood is referred to by the author himself as ‘The New Devotion,’ and Groote is called ‘Nostrae devotionis fundator,’ I have thought myself justified in giving to this translation the title which it bears, although the edition princeps gives no general title to the Lives. Translated into English by J.P. Arthur. From Wikipedia: "Thomas von Kempen, Latin Thomas a Kempis (* around 1380 in Kempen as Thomas Hemerken; † July 25, 1471 in the Agnetenberg monastery (“mountain monastery”) near Zwolle), was an Augustinian canon of the Windesheim congregation, mystic and spiritual writer of the 15th century."
