About
The CJ8 Scrambler was not exactly the most successful thing ever to wear the Jeep badge. It was cool but it was underpowered and less good off-road than the CJ7, so sales were slow and as a result, these days it’s a collectable rarity.
It’s not as rare as the new Scrambler 392, though. That’s because the Scrambler 392 is a concept – and with full carbon bodywork, plus a 470bhp, 6.4-litre V8 spinning 40” tyres, no-one’s going to accuse it of being underpowered. Or less good off-road than, well, more or less anything.
Jonty Beales’ Shogun is pretty good off-road too. Unlike Jeep, though, he didn’t spend a multi-million dollar promotions budget on creating it. Instead, he went on eBay and waited patiently for the right parts to come up at the right money – the result being a truck that wheels as well as it looks.
